“Fwd:blah blah blah”

I don’t know about you, but I find forwarded emails annoying.  First of all, I’m usually not interested in the content.  But more annoying is that I know that the person who forwarded the email to me was not really thinking of me, they just sent it to everyone on their address list.  If they were thinking of me they would have taken the time to write something personal to me inside the email and then said something like “I read this and thought of you.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.”

So why am I griping about forwarded emails in a blog about encouragement?  Because at lunch today I received one of those annoying “Fwd”‘s.  But inside, yes I did read it, was this line:  ‘To the world you might be one person,  But to one person you just might be the world’ That stopped me dead in my tracks and made me think.  So instead of forwarding that email to you I decided to blog about it.  🙂

What this is all about

I love to be encouraged.  I’m sure you do as well.  But if all we ever aspire to is to be encouraged than no one will ever do the encouraging.  So my desire is to be an encourager.  It doesn’t have to be some grand plan.  I just want to encourage people every day in the little things.  Sometimes by my words:  Saying “hi” or “thank you” or “you’re doing a good job.”  Sometimes by a smile that even reaches beyond my mouth to my eyes.  Sometimes through my actions.  Like holding a door open for someone, letting them go in front of me in line, or picking something up.  Zig Ziglar said “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.”   So I am resolving to do and say encouraging things…every day.
